Dr. Sandy Kristin Piderit is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, where she has taught since 2012. She serves as Concentration Coordinator for Leading Innovative Organizations and Director of MBA Program Offerings in Management and Entrepreneurship. Her teaching spans both undergraduate and graduate levels, including Leading People in Organizations, Leadership in Dynamic Organizations, Strategic Business Negotiation, Negotiation Skills in Business, and Introduction to Management of Organizations.
Dr. Piderit's research has appeared in leading journals including the Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Management Science, and the Journal of Management Studies. She is co-editor of two academic volumes: the Handbook on Women in Business and Management and the Handbook of Transformative Cooperation: New Designs and Dynamics. Her widely cited 2000 paper on rethinking resistance to organizational change offered a multidimensional framework that reshaped how scholars and practitioners understand employee responses to change.
Before joining Santa Clara, Dr. Piderit served as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School and spent nearly a decade on the faculty at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, where she rose to Associate Professor and received the Doctoral Teaching Award for contributions to Ph.D. student development. She has served on numerous dissertation committees and held elected leadership roles in the Academy of Management.
At Santa Clara, Dr. Piderit is active in faculty governance, serving as Parliamentarian of the Faculty Senate and Vice President of the SCU Adjuncts and Lecturers Union. She has received the Leavey School of Business Service Award twice, in 2018 and 2024. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a focus in Organizational Behavior from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Mathematics from Case Western Reserve University.
